This Program Manager will play a pivotal role in advancing Organizational Health Literacy, primarily focusing on leading and expanding the Health Literacy Champion Program. Successful attributes for this role include strong project management skills, presentation creation and facilitation, experience in data collection, a visionary mindset, the ability to influence through enterprise-wide relationships, promoting Health Literacy internally and externally, being self-motivated, and a commitment to continuous learning.

Job Description

The Program Manager Patient Education manages the execution of established patient education programs offered to address health concerns for the patient population. This is accomplished while in consultation with Program Director Patient Education, clinicians, the HEAL (Heath Education And Literacy) committee, champions of health literacy, patient educators, and patient families. This Program Manager integrates evidence-based health literacy practices in staff training and in written patient education materials, fostering Organizational Health Literacy and ensuring equitable care. 

Responsibilities:
* Assists to establish standards for patient education materials and influence how patient education is executed across the enterprise.
* Consults with content experts and authors on the development of new patient education.
* Coordinates with vendors of patient education systems and manage the enhancement of those systems to meet the learning needs of patient families.
* Identifies learning opportunities and provide training to hospital personnel focused to improve the delivery of patient education and the patient families' understanding of their health.
* Manages the lifecycle of a resource from creation, publication, translation, and 3yr review. Monitors that the resources follow the identified standards.
* Educates job roles that provide patient education to ensure a consistent product (Patient Educators, RN, PT, OT, SP, RT).
* Will aggregate and analyze findings to identify opportunities to improve processes or delivery of services; makes recommendations as appropriate.
* May interact with medical leaders, administration, management, caregivers, ancillary staff, coworkers, vendors and agencies outside of Children's Medical Center; participates in hospital committees as assigned.

WORK EXPERIENCE
* At least 3 years healthcare experience required
* At least 1 year project or people leadership experience required
* At least 1 year educating patient families at the discharge of an encounter preferred

EDUCATION
* Four-year Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required
* Graduate or professional work or advanced degree; or equivalent experience preferred
* May require additional training based on the program preferred

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
* Current licensure or registration as a clinical healthcare professional (i.e. Registered Nurse, Licensed Social Worker, Physical Therapist, etc) required
